How the live Bitcoin price page works
This page shows the live Bitcoin price in US dollars or euros, with 24-hour, 7-day and 30-day figures, supply and halving data, a chart and a sats converter. It is for anyone who wants a quick reading of the market and to know where each number comes from. When a part can’t be loaded, the page names it and says when it will try again.
Reading the market figures
- 24h high, 24h low and 24h volume on Kraken are Kraken’s 24-hour figures for the market you chose. The amount under the volume is an estimate: the volume times Kraken’s 24-hour volume-weighted average price.
- 7-day change compares the price now with the hourly close from 7 days earlier.
- The 7- and 30-day highs and lows use each hour’s highest and lowest trade, so they can sit beyond the chart line, which joins closing prices. The 30-day pair appears only when Kraken’s hourly candles cover at least 29 days.
- Bid–ask spread is the lowest ask minus the highest bid, both shown under it.
- Under Block height is the number of blocks left until the next halving. The line below the figures gives the share of the cap issued so far, worked out against the exact limit of 20,999,999.9769 BTC, the current block reward and an estimated month for the next halving.
- The all-time high is the highest trade on Kraken’s market in the currency you chose, dated to the day (UTC) when Kraken’s daily candles cover it, about the last two years, otherwise to the week.
How the numbers are checked
The server gives each answer at most 8 seconds, checks it field by field and drops what doesn’t add up, so a figure is left out rather than shown wrong:
- A 24-hour high and low that don’t contain the last price.
- A block height below 840,000, or higher than one block every 5 minutes since block 840,000 would allow. If mempool.space sends one, Blockstream is asked instead.
- An all-time high from less than five years of weekly candles, or outside 50,000 to 100 million.
- Malformed or duplicate chart candles.
Chart, converter and session log
The 24-hour chart joins 15-minute closes, the 7-day chart hourly ones. Hover over the chart, or focus it and use the arrow keys, to read each point; Page Up and Page Down jump 12 points. Chart data as a table lists the same prices hourly, or every 6 hours for 7 days.
The converter takes whole sats and BTC with up to 8 decimal places and counts in whole sats, never rounded decimals. An amount in dollars or euros is rounded to whole sats, so the three fields always agree; more than the 20,999,999.9769 BTC that will ever exist is refused. Below it, the rate is shown both ways.
Price updates this session keeps the last 8 new quotes the page received, each with its change from the one before.
Sharing and next steps
Copy link copies the address, which keeps a euro or 7-day view as ?fiat=eur or ?range=7d. Copy report gives a plain-text summary with the price, the 24-hour figures, market cap, sources and the link. JSON saves the raw data the page received.

Questions
Where does the price data come from?
Kraken’s public market-data API supplies the last trade price, bid and ask, the 24-hour high, low and volume, the chart candles and the all-time high for the BTC/USD and BTC/EUR markets. The circulating supply is computed from the current block height, which comes from mempool.space, or from Blockstream when mempool.space doesn’t answer. Market cap is that supply times the last Kraken price.
What is Bitcoin’s all-time high?
The page shows the highest trade on Kraken’s BTC/USD or BTC/EUR market since it opened in 2013, with the day it happened (UTC), from Kraken’s weekly and daily candles. It is checked once an hour, so on a day of new highs the live price can be above it for a while, and the page says so. Highs on other exchanges differ slightly.
When is the next Bitcoin halving?
At block 1,050,000, when the reward for each new block drops from 3.125 to 1.5625 BTC. Under Block height the page shows how many blocks are left, and the line below gives an estimated month at about 10 minutes a block: in 2028 at that pace.
How is the circulating supply worked out?
From the block height and Bitcoin’s issuance schedule. Blocks 0 to 209,999 each issued 50 BTC, and the reward halves every 210,000 blocks: 25, 12.5, 6.25 and, since block 840,000, 3.125 BTC. The page adds those rewards up in whole satoshis, the same rule Bitcoin Core uses for each block, so the figure is exact for the schedule and includes the genesis block. A few blocks claimed less than the full reward and the genesis coins can’t be spent, so the amount that can actually move is slightly lower.
Does my browser talk to Kraken or mempool.space?
No. This site’s server fetches the data from fixed Kraken, mempool.space and Blockstream addresses, checks and reshapes it, and caches it: 15 seconds for the price, a minute for the chart and the block height, an hour for the all-time high. Your browser only talks to zerobounce.ai, so none of these services sees your IP address.
How often does it refresh?
The price every 15 seconds, the chart and 7- and 30-day figures every minute, the block height and supply every 5 minutes, and the all-time high every 30 minutes. Updates pause while the tab is in the background and when you press Pause updates. Refresh now asks again for the price, chart and block height; answers come from a shared cache, so the price can be up to 15 seconds old and the chart and block height up to a minute. A source that takes more than 8 seconds is named on the page and asked again.
How is the 24-hour change worked out?
Against the price exactly 24 hours ago, taken from Kraken’s 15-minute candles, so it is a true rolling 24 hours. If the candles aren’t available, the page shows the change since 00:00 UTC instead and says so.
What is a sat?
A satoshi, the smallest unit of bitcoin: 100,000,000 sats make 1 BTC. The converter turns sats, BTC and dollars or euros into each other at the last price, counting in whole sats, so 0.29 BTC is exactly 29,000,000 sats.
Is this financial advice?
No. It shows public market data from one exchange. Prices elsewhere differ slightly, and nothing here is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold anything. For an exchange account, use a long random password from the Password generator.
